APRIL 1, 2021, KELOWNA, BC – SKYTRAC Systems Ltd., an industry leading provider of satellite communications and intelligent connectivity solutions, today announced the launch of a new Canadian charter airline, SKYTRAC Air.

The new airline, based out of Kelowna, features a Fokker 100 aircraft and will be used to transport SKYTRAC employees between their three office locations in Victoria, Kelowna, and Ottawa, as well as conduct charter flights as demand grows.

“After a thorough business case analysis, it was apparent that the costs of independent travel for our growing workforce would outweigh the cost of procuring, retrofitting, and operating an aircraft,” mentions Reuben Mann, Head of Marketing, SKYTRAC. “When we factored in the costs synergies involved with equipping our aircraft with our own technologies, and the growing demand for charter flights, it was an easy decision.”

SKYTRAC’s Fokker 100, retrofitted with safety equipment from various ACR Group sister companies, includes FreeFlight Systems’ radar altimeters and ADS-B datalink, Flight Data Systems’ SENTRY cockpit voice and flight data recorder, ACR Electronics’ recently announced ELT5000 emergency locator transmitter, as well as SKYTRAC’s Iridium Certus SDL-350 satellite communications terminal and ADT GADSS solution.

When the plane is not in use, mentions a company representative, the aircraft will be used for various STC and Research and Development initiatives for SKYTRAC’s growing list of products and services. Furthermore, it can be loaned to other business units within ACR Group for corporate retreats and employee performance bonuses – an exciting recruiting pitch in a market where talent is in high demand.

SKYTRAC Air expects to receive their Air Operator Certificate (AOC) shortly and is set to take its first official flight on April 1, 2022. The inaugural flight will take off in Victoria, BC, with a short stop in Kelowna, and will then embark to Ottawa, Ontario.

“We are truly excited about this – it won’t be easy, but our company is built on resilience, innovation, and passion for aviation. What more can you ask for?” concludes Mann.
