SkyNet is a fully automatic service that receives position reports from SkyTrac’s Data Centre, stores these position reports in a local database and makes them available for viewing in FlightMap. Once started, SkyNet runs continuously with requirements for user intervention. SkyNet is installed and runs on the client’s computers or computer networks. SkyNet uses a modern and robust communication protocol based on the transmission of XML (extensible mark-up language) messages over a secure internet connection (i.e. Hypertext Transfer Protocol over Secure Socket Layer or “https”).
